Radio signals do not stop at the walls, so anyone nearby can capture Wi-Fi traffic with a laptop and free software. Wireless security therefore rests on two things: authenticating who can join and encrypting what they send. Older WEP and original WPA (with TKIP) are broken and must not be used; if a device only supports them, it should be replaced or isolated. Network+ expects you to choose between WPA2 and WPA3, between Personal and Enterprise modes, and to know where captive portals and antennas fit.
