Juniper maintains two variants of its operating system. Classic Junos OS is built on a FreeBSD kernel, a Unix-like operating system, and has been Juniper's platform for most of the company's history. Junos OS Evolved is a newer variant built on Linux, used on a subset of newer platforms. The exam expects you to know the difference in foundation and to understand that the user experience is deliberately the same.
