Azure Update Manager is Azure's unified service for Windows and Linux updates on Azure VMs and Azure Arc-enabled servers. It replaced the older Automation Update Management solution, which depended on the Log Analytics agent. Update Manager is built into Azure, needs no Automation account or Log Analytics workspace, and works through a VM extension that it installs when needed. You see all machines in one view, grouped by pending updates and compliance.
