Azure Automation is a cloud service for running scripts, called runbooks, on a schedule or on demand. Everything lives in an Automation account, which holds runbooks, schedules, modules, and shared assets. Runbooks let you automate repetitive administration: shutting down test VMs at night, rotating keys, cleaning up old files or responding to alerts.
