Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) runs managed relational databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle, SQL Server and Db2, plus Amazon Aurora. AWS handles provisioning, patching, automated backups with point-in-time restore, and failover. The exam tests which feature solves availability, which solves read scaling, and which solves Regional disaster recovery, because they are easy to mix up. Keep three questions in mind: what happens when the primary fails, where read traffic goes, and what happens when a whole Region fails.
