AWS offers three kinds of storage: object, block and file. Object storage keeps whole files with metadata and is reached over HTTPS by a key; block storage presents raw volumes that an operating system formats, like a hard drive; file storage presents a shared file system that many machines mount over a network protocol. Choosing correctly depends on how the data is accessed, how many machines need it and how long it must last, and the exam frequently asks you to make that match.
