Removing the malware file is not always enough. Many infections set up persistence, meaning mechanisms that relaunch the malware or restore its changes after a reboot or after you delete the main file. Others change settings, such as the proxy or the browser's search engine, that keep causing harm even after the program is gone. After remediation, you need to check the common persistence locations and the settings malware likes to change, or the problem will quietly return.
