A ticketing system, also called a help desk or ITSM (IT service management) system, records every request and incident from the moment it is reported until it is closed. Tickets make sure nothing is forgotten, let work be handed from one technician to another, measure performance against SLAs (service level agreements), and build a searchable history that helps solve future problems. Writing a good ticket is a skill, and the A+ exam tests it directly through scenario questions about what belongs in a ticket and when to escalate.
