Digital forensics is the disciplined collection, preservation and analysis of electronic evidence so that what you find can be trusted, reproduced and, if needed, presented in court or to management. As an SSCP you are often the first responder: the person who notices the suspicious server or gets the call at 2 a.m. Your actions in the first hour decide whether evidence survives and whether it is admissible later. The guiding idea is simple: capture what disappears first, change as little as possible, and document everything.
