Firmware is the low-level software stored on hardware chips that runs before, and underneath, the operating system. The system firmware starts the server, tests hardware, and hands control to a bootloader. Drives, RAID controllers, network cards and BMCs have firmware too. Server+ tests how to configure system firmware, secure the boot process and update everything safely.
