Remote users, branch offices and cloud services all need secure connections, and SY0-701 lists several technologies that provide or control them. A virtual private network (VPN) creates an encrypted tunnel across an untrusted network such as the internet, so traffic between two points is protected from eavesdropping and tampering. The main questions are which protocol builds the tunnel, where the tunnel ends, and how much traffic goes through it. Newer architectures such as SD-WAN and SASE change how branch and remote traffic is routed and secured, while jump servers and proxies control specific kinds of access.
