RHEL installs software as RPM (RPM Package Manager) packages, managed with dnf. dnf reads repositories, which are collections of packages plus metadata, resolves dependencies and installs everything needed. Repositories can come from the Red Hat CDN (content delivery network) after registration, from a remote server your organization runs, or from local media such as the installation DVD.
