The random module generates pseudo-random numbers. They are called pseudo-random because they come from a deterministic algorithm: given the same starting state, it produces the same sequence every time. That is perfect for games, simulations and tests, but it also means random must never be used for passwords, tokens or anything security-related; Python provides the secrets module for that purpose.
