Two built-in functions connect characters and their Unicode code points. ord(ch) takes a string of exactly one character and returns its code point as an integer. chr(n) does the reverse: it takes an integer code point and returns the one-character string for it. They are inverses of each other, so chr(ord(c)) == c for any single character c, and ord(chr(n)) == n for any valid code point n.
