Beyond individual boxes, the Network+ objectives name several functions that networks provide. Four of them show up often: content delivery networks (CDNs), virtual private networks (VPNs), quality of service (QoS) and time to live (TTL). Each solves a different problem, so learn them by the problem they fix: CDN fixes distance and load, VPN fixes privacy over untrusted networks, QoS fixes contention when links are busy, and TTL stops packets from living forever.
