Disaster recovery (DR) is how an organization restores IT services after a major disruption such as a fire, flood, ransomware attack, power failure or regional cloud outage. It is part of the wider business continuity plan, which keeps the business itself running, and it builds on high availability, which tries to prevent outages in the first place. Network+ tests the metrics that set recovery targets, the types of recovery site, the redundancy models and how DR plans are tested. The main idea is that recovery choices are business decisions: faster recovery and less data loss cost more.
