Before a disk can hold files, it is normally divided into partitions, each of which gets a filesystem and a mount point. Linux+ expects you to identify disks, create partitions with the right tool for the partition table type, and mount them reliably at boot. The workflow is always the same: identify the disk, partition it, create a filesystem, find its identifier, add it to /etc/fstab, and test.
