Junos firewall filters inspect packets and decide what to do with them. Other vendors call the same feature access control lists (ACLs). Filters are configured under firewall family <family> filter <name>, where the family is usually inet for IPv4 or inet6 for IPv6. They are applied to interfaces and are processed in the Packet Forwarding Engine at high speed.
