Class of service (CoS) is how a network decides which traffic gets better treatment when links get busy. Without it, every packet waits in one first-in, first-out queue, so a large file transfer can delay a voice call or even a routing protocol hello. Junos CoS lets you sort traffic into classes and give each class its own share of bandwidth, buffer space and priority. The JNCIA exam tests the concepts and vocabulary rather than detailed tuning.
