Compact number formatting shows large numbers in a short, human-friendly form, such as 1K for one thousand or 3 million, the way social media counts and dashboards do. Java provides it through java.text.CompactNumberFormat, a subclass of NumberFormat. You normally obtain one with the factory method NumberFormat.getCompactNumberInstance(locale, style).
