An access point (AP) is the device that bridges wireless clients onto the wired network. On the CWNA exam you need to know the main ways APs are built and managed, because the choice affects cost, scale, roaming and troubleshooting. The radios may be identical across these models; what changes is where the intelligence and configuration live.
