Converged protocols carry specialized traffic, such as storage or voice, over standard IP or Ethernet networks instead of on separate dedicated infrastructure. Convergence saves money, reduces cabling and simplifies management. The security cost is that traffic which used to be physically isolated now shares the data network, where it can be intercepted, spoofed or disrupted by problems elsewhere. The CISSP outline names several examples, and the common thread is how you restore the isolation and trust you lost.
