REST (representational state transfer) is an architectural style for APIs built on HTTP. Resources, such as devices, sites or interfaces, are identified by URLs, and you act on them with standard HTTP methods. The server replies with a status code that tells you what happened. REST APIs are stateless: each request carries everything the server needs, including authentication.
