Every device has a clock, and on its own each one drifts. NTP (Network Time Protocol) keeps device clocks synchronized to accurate sources so that every router, switch, server and firewall agrees on the time. That sounds minor, but many security and operational tasks quietly depend on it, and the CCNA expects you to know both why it matters and how to configure and verify it.
