Software as a service (SaaS) is a complete application that the provider runs and delivers over the internet, usually for a subscription fee per user. Familiar examples are Microsoft 365 for email and office apps, Microsoft Teams, Dynamics 365 for customer relationship management (CRM) and business processes, and many third-party products used through a browser. You use the software through a web browser or a client app; you do not deploy servers, write the application or manage its platform.
