Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is the cloud service type that gives you the most control. The provider supplies the physical building blocks, the datacenter, physical servers, storage hardware and physical network, and you rent virtual versions of them. The best-known IaaS service in Azure is virtual machines (VMs), together with virtual networks, managed disks and load balancers. IaaS is the closest thing in the cloud to running your own server room, without owning the room.
