Azure Storage is Microsoft's cloud storage platform for almost every kind of data an application produces: documents, images, backups, messages, structured records and the virtual hard disks behind virtual machines (VMs). It is durable (several copies are always kept), highly available, secure by default (data is encrypted at rest automatically) and massively scalable, and you pay only for the capacity and operations you use. Most storage services live inside a storage account, which gives your data a unique namespace reachable over HTTP or HTTPS. Because the account name forms part of public endpoint addresses such as mystorage.blob.core.windows.net, it must be unique across all of Azure, between 3 and 24 characters long, and use only lowercase letters and numbers.
