Most organizations do not run everything in Azure. They have servers in their own datacenters, branch offices and edge locations such as factories or shops, and sometimes workloads in other public clouds. Managing each environment with separate tools makes it hard to apply consistent security, compliance and monitoring, and it leaves gaps nobody notices. Azure Arc extends Azure's management and governance to resources outside Azure, so you can use the same tools and rules everywhere.
