Storage Replica is a Windows Server feature that replicates volumes at the block level to another server or cluster, mainly for disaster recovery. Because it works below the file system, it replicates everything on the volume, including open files, and it is unaware of which application wrote the blocks. It uses SMB 3 as its transport.
