Blob Storage stores unstructured data such as documents, images, backups and logs. Blobs live in containers, which are like top-level folders in a storage account, and a blob's full address is <account>.blob.core.windows.net/<container>/<blob> on the account's blob endpoint. There are three blob types: block blobs for most files, append blobs for data that is only ever added to, such as logs, and page blobs for random read and write access, used by virtual machine disks. Access tiers apply to block blobs, and choosing the right tier is one of the easiest ways an administrator can cut storage cost.
