Azure Files provides fully managed file shares in the cloud that clients mount like a network drive, using SMB (Server Message Block) or, for premium shares, NFS (Network File System). Windows, Linux and macOS clients can all connect, and the shares can replace or extend on-premises file servers without you managing any server hardware or operating system. Azure File Sync can cache a share on local Windows Servers for fast access in branch offices, with the cloud share as the central copy.
