Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) offers hundreds of instance types, but they fall into a handful of families, and the SAA-C03 exam expects you to match a workload to the right one. Choosing well matters twice: an instance that is too small hurts performance, and one that is the wrong shape wastes money, because you pay for CPU, memory or storage your application never uses. Alongside the instance type, two further choices shape performance for tightly connected fleets: where instances are physically placed, and how they are networked.
