AWS takes a purpose-built approach to databases: rather than forcing one database to do everything, you pick the engine that fits the data model and access pattern. A relational database is excellent at joins and transactions but awkward at massive key-value scale; a key-value store is the reverse. Exam questions usually give you clues, such as joins and transactions, key-value lookups at huge scale, analytics over years of data, JSON documents or relationships between entities, and expect you to map them to a service. Learning those clues is most of the work.
