In an Amazon API Gateway REST API, editing resources and methods in the console does not change what callers see. Changes go live only when you create a deployment: a snapshot of the API's configuration. A deployment is associated with a stage, a named, callable reference to that snapshot, such as dev, test or prod, reachable at an invoke URL of the form {api-id}.execute-api.{region}.amazonaws.com/prod. Forgetting to deploy after an edit is a classic reason why a change 'doesn't work'. (HTTP APIs can enable automatic deployment for a stage.)
