The same EC2 instance can cost very different amounts depending on how you buy it. Picking the right purchase option for each workload is one of the biggest cost levers in AWS, and a guaranteed exam topic. The skill being tested is matching: read what the workload needs (how long it runs, whether it can be interrupted, whether it has licensing or isolation requirements) and pick the option that is cheapest without breaking those needs.
