Wi-Fi is defined by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11 family of standards. The A+ exam expects you to know the frequency bands, which standards use which bands, how channels work and why regulations limit them, and how Wi-Fi compares with other wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, NFC (near-field communication) and RFID (radio-frequency identification). These facts drive practical choices like where to place an access point and which band a device should use.
