Resources in a child module need a provider configuration, such as an AWS provider set to a particular region and account. By default, a child module inherits the default (unaliased) provider configurations of its parent automatically. If your root module has one provider "aws" block, every module that uses AWS resources quietly uses it. That implicit inheritance covers most simple configurations.
