A converged network carries voice, video, data and often building systems such as cameras and door controllers over a single IP infrastructure instead of separate specialized networks. Convergence saves money and adds features, but it also means that voice and video inherit IP network threats, and that an attack on the data network can take down phones, including emergency calling.
