A business continuity plan (BCP) and a disaster recovery plan (DRP) are related but not the same. The BCP is the broad plan for keeping critical business functions running during and after a disruption: people, processes, facilities, communications, suppliers and technology. The DRP is a subset focused on restoring IT systems, data and infrastructure after a disaster. Put simply, the BCP keeps the business going; the DRP gets the technology back. Both rely on the business impact analysis for priorities and objectives.
