Administrators constantly move files between systems: configuration files, backups, logs for analysis. Doing it over SSH means the transfer is encrypted and authenticated with the same accounts and keys you already use to log in, so no separate file-transfer service is needed. RHEL provides three tools that do this: scp, sftp and rsync.
