When a project delivers a new system, the organization will soon depend on it. Business continuity planning (BCP) makes sure the business can keep operating if that system or the site it runs in fails. Disaster recovery (DR) is the technical part of that: how IT restores systems and data after an outage, a cyberattack such as ransomware, or a disaster such as a fire or flood. These requirements must be defined, built and tested during the project, not left for operations to discover after go-live.
