Python does not have strictly private attributes the way some languages do, but it has two conventions that support encapsulation. A single leading underscore, like self._balance, means internal: please do not use this from outside. Nothing enforces it. A double leading underscore, like self.__balance, with no double underscore at the end, triggers a mechanism called name mangling, which the PCAP exam tests closely.
