Palo Alto runs the same core technology, PAN-OS with App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID and the security subscriptions, across several form factors. What changes is where the firewall runs and who operates it. The exam expects you to pick the right one for a scenario and to know how each is deployed and managed, so think of each form factor as an answer to 'what am I protecting, and how much of the firewall do I want to run myself?'
