Every switch, router and host network interface has settings that must agree with the device at the other end of the cable. When they do not, the link may come up and appear fine but perform badly, which makes these problems hard to spot and a favourite exam topic. Network+ tests the main settings: speed, duplex, MTU (including jumbo frames) and link aggregation. For each, know what it controls, what a mismatch looks like in interface counters and how to fix it.
