A system that will not boot is stressful, but most failures fall into a few categories. Match what you see on the console to the boot stage (firmware, boot loader, kernel and initramfs, then systemd and mounts), and use the recovery path for that stage. Linux+ scenarios usually describe the message on screen and ask for the next step, so learn the messages as well as the fixes.
