Before you troubleshoot routing or interfaces, you need to know the device itself is healthy. Junos provides a small set of operational-mode commands that tell you what hardware is installed, whether anything is alarming, how busy the control plane is and whether storage is filling up. These are the first commands many engineers type after logging in.
