Junos is built on a Unix-like operating system, so it has a normal file system with directories such as /var/log for logs, /var/tmp for temporary files and software packages, /config and /var/db/config for saved configurations and /var/home/<user> for each user's home directory. From the CLI you manage these files with the file commands, without needing a Unix shell.
