The java.time package is Java's modern date and time API. Its classes are immutable and thread-safe, and none of them have public constructors: you create values with static factory methods such as now(), of(...) and parse(...). Because they are immutable, every method that seems to change a value, like plusDays, returns a new object. Forgetting to assign that result is the most common exam trap, exactly as with String.
