Master data is the core, shared data about the key entities a business runs on: customers, products, suppliers, employees, locations and accounts. It changes relatively slowly and is used across many systems and processes. Transactional data, such as orders and payments, refers to master data. When master data is inconsistent, every report built on it inherits the problem.
