Public cloud providers organize their infrastructure in a hierarchy, and designing for availability starts with knowing that hierarchy. A region is a geographic area, such as a part of a country, that contains several isolated data center groups. You choose a region for each resource based on latency to users, data residency laws, service availability and price, which can differ between regions.
